Whenever I’d try character design, I would question the definition of a “well done” design. For me, a well-done design was one that felt complete and that feeling would be encouraged by the right decisions. Deciding the proper colors, proportions, and costumes. I believed the process to be time-consuming and require quite a lot of evaluation.
However, even after consecutive attempts, I didn’t feel pleased. The designs I find to be satisfying now, have been created by methods different from what I was used to. By ink stains and shreds of magazines and newspapers.
Amidst textures and indistinguishable shapes, words, and bright colors of advertisements, grew characters carrying their own stories and personalities. Features of a complete character.
This collection was done in 2020. By watercolor, ink, and colored pencils.
